Dublin, December 2006

Oh my god, was a long time ago when I last wrote.... looks like I am actually starting to be myself :-P When I was keeping a normal paperback diary in the end I had gaps of 2 years... I strongly hope I won't do this again.

Alright, where should I start?

28 November, VERY early.

Our plane started off too early. Our small team of 5 (Erika, Chris, Kriszti, Mariann and me) was just so tired. No problem, we are used to this. Dublin normally wouldn't be too far. We of course decided to take the more difficult way of getting there. Taking flight to London-Luton, then to Dublin. This would be nice, BUT. We had an approximately 9 hour slot for transfer.
Soo, what to do, let's take a bus and just drop into London downtown for a while. All was nice, could spend about 2 hours there, which was enough for a decent coffee and short walk along the Thames, then back again. Was really cool, even though the weather was just so typical for London....

Next step. Ryanair. Ouch. My god! If I ever wanted to fly this crap again please try to dissuade me or just simply confiscate my bankcard! Having all the interior of the plane with vivid yellow, all of our small team members felt the slight transformation.. getting aggressive. The stewardesses are also one by one like Russian soldiers...zero talent of customer service... their recruit process must lie on very peculiar methods.

Finally there, Dublin. Rain. My hair is tied up, so I left no space for Wella to prove how well it holds in all conditions.

Few hours later, Temple Bar. Looks very nice. Pubs with great atmosphere. Chris takes us to the place called Porter House, where you can choose from hundreds of beers from all over the world. Looks nice, and what is more, there is great music over there! Start liking this :) Stout is really the beer for me :) Ok Ok apart from the good old Belgian stuff.

Wow bus system is weird. There is no change on the bus, if you want to buy a ticket, you need to have the exact amount of coins with you, and in case of overpay, you get something like an IOU card and you can refund it in the central office. Thanks, very nice, the only problem is that you can't get to know how much is the fare, PLUS it depends how far you are going. You have no chance.....

29 November
Student Board meeting begins

Now this is great. Love this atmosphere. Lovely people, great time, and challenging work. Tiring thing to do though... all day meeting, then very nice dinner usually (ohh yes I know some people have to suffer hard..:)) then party till dawn. Then early morning wake again. Work hard, play hard. That could be the second credo for CEMS, truly.

So after our nice dinner went to the pre-party organized, was so great to meet up with friends, the Hungarian buddies and hang around with the SB people.

Girls, Alex and Pauline, thanks for the great room-team! Enjoyed it a lot :) except for the part when we lacked hot water.. LOL, anyway, looking back it was fun.

30 November
Student Board meeting ends
Executive dinner at Dublin Castle

Wow, posh dinner in a castle. And really wow it was... it was exclusively open for us..never been to a posh dinner like this.. was just pleasant. And then fun again with SB buddies, then heading to party again and meet the beloved ones from the exchange term, YES! the Vienna crew!!
Then old friends.... Bea ne tudd meg mennyit kerestelek, de úgy látszik nálunk ez már hagyomány lesz, hogy Annual Events bulin egymást keressük mint a hülye....:) tökre élveztem!!!

Closing party

Interviews in the morning. Nice. One by one, four consecutively. At noon I was already exhausted and worn. But then the day just actually started! Was great to see the crowd at the stands, and expecially nice that lot of student visited the SB stand as well :)
Oh damn it, SB time is over... anyhow I am happy to have done it. Learned a lot, and earned a couple of valuable friends. We're gonna keep in touch!!!!! Erik you bastard, even you can't get rid of me, so ASAP write an email or I'll start bothering you... and God help you from that!

Closing party, which everybody was so much preparing for resulted in a big chaos. I took the whole afternoon with trying to get tickets out of nowhere for my friends, who were one of the many who's registration somehow got lost in the system, thus no tickets for them. The place was small, underorganized, it just couldn't be good. And it really wasn't. Was a pity for it, because if I out together all the memories, I am surely going with positive feelings.

Next day was the worst weather ever... such a wind, that even wanted to blow away my suitcase(!!!!!!!). No wonder all flights were cancelled. So I guess half of the people were stuck there, therefore had another opportunity to check out the pub atmosphere along a pint of Guinness.

I myself had another week of vacation ahead: round trip in South Ireland!!!!!

to be continued...

Hugs,

Juli
